Kareol The title comes from Tristan's castle in Brittany. In this French vein I couldn't help but think how this little sculpture reminds me of Rodin's Burghers of Calais. Hence my working title was The Burghers of Calais and their Extended Families. I used little sage twigs collected in and around Pocatello. Once covered with wax, they looked like little figures. This piece is a one-off, like Tristan und Isolde, with the original pattern of sticks, wax and paper being destroyed during the burn-out process during mold-making. |
