Sculpture

Painting

This piece is called "So nimmst du von Siegmund den Sieg?" The title comes from a line in Richard Wagner's Die Walküre, and translates loosely as "You would deny Siegmund his victory?" This sculpture is made of peat moss and wood. It is about 7 feet long, and about 2 feet high. ©2009.

Which reminds me! I've started a blog! I thought I would put works in progress, and various ideas I've been contemplating, on the blog. Please take a look: www.MikeAdamsArtist.com/blog2/

It's based on Viking ships, but I'd say one meaning has to do with idealized forms (along the lines of Plato's Forms), and how a universal concept "travels" back and forth from an ideal to a concrete reality. The title is the first words that Brünnhilde sings when she is awakened by the hero in Wagner's opera Siegfried, and means "Hail to thee, Sun."
