We Really Made It!

My apologies to those of you who wondered why I hadn't updated you on our trip. . .Mom and I really did go, and I really did show my sculptures and really did bronze foundry demonstrations at the Great Northern Arts Festival in Inuvik, Northwest Territories, Canada, July 16-25th, 2004.  Inuvik is about 100 miles north of the Arctic Circle.

The photo above (by Robby Mouse) is of Nikki (big gray kitty in my arms), Blue (big black dog) and  me (the human) at the Arctic Circle on the legendary Dempster Highway in the Yukon, on July 14, 2004.  The sky is gray because of smoke from forest fires.

Below is my Mommy, Roberta, posing on main street in Keno, Yukon (Population approximately 11) enjoying the hustle-and-bustle.  Again that's smoke, not fog!

In the foothills of the Richardson Mountains in the Northwest Territories, Canada.

The photo above was taken by me in late July 2004 looking to the west toward the Richardson Mountains along the Dempster Highway in the Northwest Territories, Canada.   This is treeless tundra, mainly because of the elevation (partly because of latitude, about 70 miles north of the Arctic Circle) which is probably about 1000 feet above see level. Notice the dust from the gravel highway, as it winds up into the mountains.
