Empress of the Universe Cast Aluminum and Polyester Resin, Approximately 18" long x 8" wide by 12" tall ©2009
This is an homage to my cat Nikki, who died this summer. The Empress of the Universe was her nickname because she was very demanding, as was her due. This sculpture, along with many others will be at Gate City Fine Arts, 315 West Center Street, in Oldtown Pocatello, Idaho in October and November. The First Friday Art Walk is November 6th from 5 to 8 p.m.!

Heil dir, Sonne! Cast Bronze and wood, approximately 90 inches long by 24 inches wide by 60 inches high ©2009
This sculpture is at Gate City Fine Arts through November.  It's based on Viking ships, but I'd say the meaning has to do with idealized forms (along the lines of Plato's Forms), and how a universal concept "travels" back and forth from an ideal to a concrete reality. The title is the first words that Brünnhilde sings when she is awakened by the hero in Wagner's opera Siegfried, and means "Hail to thee, Sun."
